Dr. Amy Wheelecor
Psy.D, LP

Amy identifies as a Third Culture Kid. During her childhood and young adulthood, she lived abroad due to her father’s work. Amy’s family resided in several countries, including Turkey, England, Greece, Spain, Germany, and the Netherlands. During her time abroad, Amy was privileged to travel extensively. Her love of travel was instilled at a young age and has led to additional travel in North and Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia.

Amy’s encounters with other cultures have shaped her worldview and significantly impact how she approaches her relationships with others. She respects, values, and celebrates the shared human experience as well as the array of differences and diversity that inform the lives of human beings around the world. She believes that the first step in honoring diversity is recognizing a person’s humanity. These beliefs are at the heart of her value system and inform how she interacts with the world.

Amy is a psychotherapist and educator. She works at The Center for Conscious Alchemy, where she is the training director and a practicing psychologist. She is a relational trauma therapist specializing in treatment along the trauma spectrum and is trained in a variety of trauma-focused, informed, and responsive modalities. Amy is also an Assistant Professor in the Masters of Counseling and Psychological Services program at Saint Mary's University of Minnesota, where she teaches psychophysiology, human development, ethics, and facilitates a practicum class.

In addition to her clinical work and teaching, Amy is the middle child in a family of five siblings and a proud auntie to some amazing nieces, nephews, and a great-niece. She reads voraciously, loves the theater, both on stage and as a patron, and spends time in the wilderness, surrounded by trees, whenever she has the chance.
